Almost the Beach!

So excited for the first official day of summer to be here, so I thought I'd share with you what we've been up to around here.
My wonderful husband wanted to create a beach inspired bedroom sanctuary for us, so his first project was whitewashing our wood floors.
And what an awesome job he did! I'm so thankful for him not only is he handy but artistic to boot!

Though it's not an impossible project, be prepared to put in a lot of elbow grease.
I wish I could tell you how it was done but my job in times like these is trying to entertain 3 children while blockading  the work zone that's so enticing to them.
Maybe one day he'll be my guest blogger and give a tutorial on it.
Though our bedroom is still a work in progress,  I thought I'd get started on the finishing touches
(because I always get ahead of myself).
So I was inspired and made these little gems.

The painted bottle is nothing new but I thought I'd give them a little more personality, by adding some fabric.
Can't wait to show you what they'll look like in our new bedroom!

Happy Summer!

Out of the mouth of babes.

So today I let the kids take over the blog and share words that best described their dad, and this is what they came up with.

Hot ( I said that one)
We love you so much daddy you're the best!

An Early Father's Day Tribute!

Two of the greatest examples of a man being a great father are my husband with our children and of course my own father.
My father has always been an absolutely excellent saver of anything, especially money.  For years he would toss his pocket change into this huge water jug(the kind used in water coolers)I'd sometimes even see $20 bills floating around in there, he'd just keep saving and saving. The only time I ever saw him take any money out was when his sister's home in Puerto Rico was destroyed by a hurricane, other than that he never touched it. We'd always ask him for some, but he'd always say it's for his sports car.

So one of the fondest memories I have of my father was during my wedding engagement.  I became overwhelmed with the planning, especially paying for the wedding. But one day I came home to find my parents sitting on the living room floor counting piles of change and dollar bills, when I asked what they were doing my mom said "your father is using it for your wedding". With tears streaming down my face and totally overjoyed, it was then that I realized how much he loved me, you see he is not my biological father, but has raised me from the age of five.
He has been more than just a stepfather but truly my DAD!

He was so serious walking me down the aisle, I know he was trying to keep his cool. I on the other was a mess by the time we had our father/daughter dance, which is why you don't see my face.
Isn't he so handsome.  He got his sports car by the way!

Thank you for all you've done and all you continue you do as my dad, father-in-law and grandpa.

Happy Father's Day Dad I love you!

This week in review

We celebrated The Mama's birthday recently.
Had a lovely time with my husband and kids, even Skyped with my folks so they could join in on the festivities.
Early in the week we got an invite to join Gio's friends for a fun playdate at the botanical gardens, where we were up in a tree house.

This is one of my favorite moments of our trip, the kids were exploring and kept going on different adventures, where they came across this precious little creek and splashed around.

And we ended our week at Field Day, thankfully it wasn't 101 degrees like yesterday, it was only 95. (hint of sarcasm)

Gabi and her classmate rocked in the 3-legged race.

A little game of freeze dance, minus the freeze cause we were hot!

Gio has become the honorary 3yr old 1st grader, in Ms K's class.

Count down to the dog days of summer!
