YAY a challenge!

br />Photobucket

I'm getting my feet wet in the blogging world, by participating in this super fun looking challenge!

Create something with these 3 specific items:
Twine
paint chips
cereal box
and of course your allowed to use the basics (i.e scissors, glue, paint, tape etc)

But I love this challenge specifically because I'm a true believer in using whatcha got!

So here it is!

Not much to it, the kites were made from the paint chips I swiped from Lowes to make my son a color block book to help him learn his colors, but I never got around to it(lol), some paint on the back of a cereal box and twine.

I know it looks like a kid made it but it hangs in the kid's playroom!

Can't wait till next week!

Hints of Spring!

We're well into the 2nd week of Spring but it's been far from that around here with our weather, more like in like a lamb out like a lion, but it hasn't stopped me from decorating.

Front door needed a wreath desperately, so I whipped one up (add sarcastic laughter here)
It consist of a piece of cardboard cut round wrapped in twine, added a detachable pom pom flower and mini banner (for versatility all year round) and voila! a welcoming wreath for $0.

Felt like brighten up my already bright dining room, nothing says spring and summer like lemons, mama wants lemons.
I heart turquoise and yellow this season.

Simply touches of spring or any season can be achieved for next to nothing, just gotta stretch that imagination with just a template off the web, and once again(more sarcastic laughter here)turquoise cardstock these butterflies come to life on this mirror.

Oh happy day!

It's more than just crafting for me....

If your looking for a tute you won't find one in today's post however I'd like to share something the Lord revealed to me. After coming off a crafting high over the weekend, I thought I could keep it going so I started a quickie project (you know when a crafty idea pops into your head at the most inconvenient time but you start it anyway.) Though I knocked it out in like 1o mins....

(I know there's nothing to it really)

...it wasn't quite finished cause the Lord was just getting started.

I began looking up the words woven, weave, intertwined, in my concordance(bible school days) which lead me to this passage of scripture in Exodus 35:25,26 & 29:

And every skillful women spun with her hands, and they all brought what they had spun in blue, and purple and scarlet yarns and fined twined linen. All the women who's heart stirred them to use their skill spun the goats hair.
All the men and women, the people of Israel, whose heart moved them to bring anything for the work that the Lord had commanded by Moses to be done brought it as a freewill offering to the Lord.

I've fallen in love with doing this (crafting, decor, art...)but I've not been able to really give it my all it's been merely a hobby and at times I'm even a bit envious of those women who've been able to make a career of it, how do they do it all, with KIDS no less! But anyway I've been praying about something that the Lord planted in my little heart, and this scripture has encouraged my spirit to continue doing it as onto Him, for His glory. And I can't really say to much more than this but God is gathering together a network of women that He wants to use and I'm please to say that I've been folded in there too! And little by little that secret desire in my heart may come to fruition.

So to you crafty ladies out there who may be feeling like me at times, be encouraged, remember to use what He has given you for His glory, as unto Him and He will bless it more than you could even do with just your hands.

God Bless!

Everyday inspiration

We're getting ready for a busy season in our house with 3 birthdays and Easter each one on the heels of the other.
So I was inspired to make one of the sweetest and dearest crafts to welcome in the Spring by mama's "three little birds" at home (and Bob Marley of course!)

I gathered some branches, a pitcher that's never used, downloaded and printed out a bird template thanks to Martha, and cut out using some pretty paper.
Sorry I tried posting the link but it wasn't working. Trust me, just hit up
Marthastewart.com and look up bird templates.

Happy Spring!

Best mom in the world and no it's not me!

I've been a very bad blogger this month, and forget about crafting, but I'm gearing up because I have 3 birthdays 10 days apart from each other within the next month and a half. So I'm sure I'll have lots to share about then.

But to the short and sweet of it for right now more so just for the sake of memory keeping.
My hubby had another work trip last week, so my mommy came to visit for 5 days woo hoo!
It was party time for me! She spoiled me rotten. But I didn't take advantage of her, too much!
She's amazing she braved a 5 and a half hour train ride just to see us. She didn't know this but I got all teary eyed when I pulled up to the train station and saw her standing there with her little suitcase and a huge smile on her face. It was then that God reminding me how blessed I truly was.
Anyway, I was able to do stuff, for me! Like get my hair cut, hit up a MOPS meeting, get my eyebrows threading which I treated her to and we looked fabulous.
And got to go on 2 dates in a row once Adam got back.

But most importantly my kids got to have quality time with their grandma or "mama" as they call her. Cause whenever we see each other it's usually just a quick weekend visit, that has to be shared with so many other family members crammed into 2 days.
And she just loved on them so.

So I know it's far from Mother's Day but I just wanted to honor my fabulous mom this way.
I love you ma!
