I was instantly zapped back to a memory of my most favorite childhood activity as Gabi so proudly unveiled her beautifully designed "Rainbow dress". I'd spend hours drawing fashions to keep me occupied, and now to see her doing that very same thing, really warmed my heart!

Notice the baby bump, she designed it for me.

Week 37

It's getting close and well I'm getting nervous. As my belly expands so do my fears, and anxieties, of being a mom to 3 kids. I never had a number in mind, but after the birth of my son having one of each seemed perfect! As the song goes "3" it's a magic number!
So these last 3 weeks as I prepare my family and home for the arrival of Johanna Evangeline Martino, the Lord is preparing my heart for an expansion.

The Miracle of Spring!

I enjoyed just sitting outside on the first day of spring, tinkering with my camera of course!

So ironic!

Well today was one of the "nesting days" for me, my house is pretty much in order so I decided to hit the car wash and give my 3 month old new car a much needed car wash. Not just one of those quickie car washes you do just so that you're not embarrassed while driving around, I got down to the nitty gritty. It is shining, vacuumed up every speck of dirt, even the car seats got a once over. Oh and the trunk too!
I mean after all, the first place this new baby will be in after leaving the hospital is going to be the car, right!

So, I find it a bit ironic that after all that being done today, I picked up Gabi from school and hit the school's playground of course (it's like 75 degrees out there). As we enter into the haven of dirt, the playground was a buzz with talk of the new sand in the sand pit. Oh dear how on earth was I going to dodge that one.
Well, I didn't. I have a 23 month old little boy what kind of mama would I be if I didn't let them play in it. But, even I couldn't ignore the beautiful white, sparkly and cool feel of the sand, as the kids covered my flip flop wearing toes with it. We played for over and hour in it as we cheered for all of Gabi's friends playing soccer. It was so much fun!

And, believe it or not the car stayed remarkably clean after that, maybe it was because of the fact I shook them both so hard before getting in the car.

Life is to short to sweat those little ironies that come our way!

Quiet please! Artist at work.

There was some serious coloring going on today in the Martino house, did I cringe just a little bit because it was happening on our white dining room table, sure did, but nothing care compare to the quiet I heard for those 25 minutes.
And, might I add that they (at least Gabi for now) are very good at it.

She came home with the latest addition to our art collection that so proudly hangs in our living room, just needs a frame.

And as for Gio, well that is a work in progress although he does draw a mean circle.

Sugar and spice...

As I stare into the sea of pink that is my daughters room, I realize that my first born baby girl is now going to be the eldest of not just two siblings, but the older sister to a baby sister. For five and three quarter years my brown eyed girl was always mommy and daddy's little princess, even after her brother came into the picture she reigned supreme in that title, so when asked what she wanted this baby to be, I was surprised as she confidently claimed "it's a girl, I want a sister". Did she really know what she was getting into, sisterhood is a dynamic I know nothing about. So, for the next few weeks I'm going to treasure the little moments of peeking into her room and hearing that little high pitched mousy voice as she pretend plays with Barbie and My Little Pony.

I'm so proud of you Gabi with all my love Mama.

What was I thinking

Well, it's been a few days and much to catch up on.
Dropped my husband and 22 month old son at the airport last Thursday morning to go visit his brother and new baby for a few days. What was I thinking, well I'll tel you what I was thinking. It started out as a good idea, after all this would be the last time Gio could fly for free, before turning two. Sure, it was a little out of my comfort zone, but all I could think about was that much needed break from running after him for 3 days. Well, they arrived in Florida without a hitch. "He did great, better than I thought" says Adam, so good the guy didn't even bother to call me to let me know he got there. Here's were it all goes down hill! My brother in law has a dog, now I knew this, and I knew there may be a slight chance of Gio sneezing a couple of times because of it but, nothing could have prepared Adam for what happened next. After less than an hour of being there he was covered in hives, a major allergic reaction to the dog. My poor baby, even worse I thought... my poor husband. How or what was he going to do. It was completely out of my control, not that he couldn't handle it cause he did, but I'm usually the one who deals with the "sick kids" after all I'm the maternal one right? I thought of getting him a hotel, or just having them come back home, I mean this was my baby boy that needed to get well, he needed his "mama". But this was the moment where God said "do you trust me". What could I do, most importantly what could Adam do. Well, he did his very best and took care of his son, my baby and though I wasn't there to "handle it" Gio was taken care of. They're home and all is well with the world.

Now back at the Martino Ranch, I was dealing with my own dilemma, nothing I hadn't dealt with before but not at all they way I thought my weekend was going to go. I had big plans for Gabi and I, our last hurray before Johanna arrives or as I like to call her baby#3. So, Friday night was supposed to be dinner out, what does she request, good ole McDonald's. Great! just what I love to eat because I don't get enough of it. Anyway fast forward to 10 pm that night and let's just say I was cleaning up some yucky stuff from her bedroom floor. So not so much fun for me, sleeping on the couch with her and her head in a garbage pail, a fever the next day. was not the "girl weekend" I had in mind.

But I will say this, my house is clean and organized after all what else could I do.

Giovani's newest form of entertainment is yelling SURPRISE! when entering a room or in this case hiding behind the curtain, although it sounds like he's saying PRIZE. So you better act SURPRISED next time you see him.
